.: 10 Easy Nutrition Tips

In today's complex world, us humans love to overcomplicate things. Nutrition is certainly no exception to this rule. Most mainstream nutrition "experts" would have you believe that there is a complex formula of macro and micronutrients for eating right. But, when it comes down to it, it really couldn't be simpler. In fact, eating healthy shouldn't be hard, it shouldn't be expensive, and it sure as hell shouldn't be so complicated that you need a calculator to do it!

I have put together what I consider to be the 10 most important things for eating healthy. If you just follow these 10 guidelines on a consistent basis then I guarantee that you will be on the right path to achieving your fitness goals.

1. Don't Drink Your Calories.

Ever heard of a beer belly? It's called that for a reason.

2. Eat Real Food.

If you can't pronounce the ingredientts, you don't need to eat it.

3. Cut Back the Carbs.

Mainly grains. Don't go all Atkins on me though...please!

4. Eat Breakfast.

Just avoid the cereals and flavored oatmeals.

5. Cook Your Own Dinner.

Learn to cook! Save money and calories! Be in control of what you put in your stomach.

6. Pack Your Lunch.

Avoid the tempation of Fast Food Lane by brown bagging it. Also saves a ton of money!

7. Drink More Water.

I never feel as hungry when I'm well hydrated. Don't worry about water overkill though, it's not necessary.

8. Eat Plenty of Good Fats.

Avacados, Almonds, Walnuts, Olive Oil. Not potato chips, sorry.

9. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.

Just take it easy on the starchy vegetables like potatoes.

10. Relax, Stick With It!

Eating healthier should be an enjoyable experience, not something you suffer through. Don't sweat it if you slip up every now and then. Think about eating healthier as a lifestyle change, not a diet.

There it is, Fit-Life's 10 step guide to eating healthy. Oversimplified? Of coursre! But isn't that the beauty of it? Living a healthy life should be simple!

Al, Note that I sad to cut back on carbs, not eliminate them completely. Ideally, yes, the majority of your carbs should be coming from fruits and vegetables. However, I don't see anything wrong with including some grains in your diet as well (I'm not as strict as some when it comes to eating Primal). Just try to make your grains of the whole wheat variety. Remember to check the ingredients though as all "whole wheats" aren't created equal. As far as eating real foods, all I mean is that the less highly processed foods you eat, the better off you'll be. Fruits, veggies, meats, and nuts are always your best bet, but the key is to eat a variety! Don't let yourself get stuck in the "health rut" by eating the same meals week in and week out. Hope this helps! Submitted By: Nate - Fit-Life

So if i cut out the carbs, then the only carbs i will be getting is from fruit right? Plus you said to eat real food, does that narrow down the list to just eating fruit, veggies and lean meat? THANKS! Submitted By: Al S
